The Northwest Louisiana Government
Procurement Center, the North Louisiana Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Barksdale Air Force
Base 2nd Contracting Squadron, and the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at LSUS joined together to present a reverse
tradeshow:
CenturyTel
presents the 4th Annual Government Procurement Conference and Reverse Vendor Tradeshow.
This conference
was an opportunity for small businesses to meet and interact with governmental agencies and prime contractors. This
was also an opportunity for contracting officers to network with certified and qualified small businesses from the Ark-La-Tex
area to meet contracting goals.
The two day event consisted of a "Meet and Greet" mixer on
Monday, April 27th, and an all day "reverse trade show" on Tuesday, April 28th, with concurrent educational classes for the
small businesses. The "reverse trade show" concept meant that the governmental agencies and prime contractors were
the exhibitors, and the small businesses were able to attend as the "foot traffic" and market to the different exhibitors.
Ronald A. Poussard, a member of the Senior Executive Service
and Director of the Office of Small Business Programs, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, the Pentagon, Washington,
DC and Colonel Lee L. Gardner, AFCYBER (P) A9, Barksdale Air Force Base, were keynote speakers for this event.
